May 2009 Nick's music features in the children's musical Lit by Limelight, written and directed by Jenny de Reuck, in Perth, Western Australia, from 24-31 May 2009. March 2009 Nick's song Listen (To the Night) won 3rd Place in the Spiritual / Gospel / Sacred / Inspirational category of the Pacific Songwriting Competition 2008. More info here! The Actors Studio and Michelle Quah present Stage!, a showcase of character, comedy, drama and ballad pieces by award-winning soprano Michelle Quah. Nick's song Different Places, Different Faces (a.k.a. Now That You're Here) from The Edge featured, with guest performances by Llew Marsh and Cristina Yap, accompanied by Nick on piano. February 2009 Nick's work on A Christmas Carol has been nominated for Malaysia's BOH Cameronian Arts Award under the Theatre: Best Music and Sound Design category. The nominees were announced at the Nominees Party on Feb 10, kicked off with Nick's original song One Night Stand performed by Zalina Lee, Nicole Ann-Thomas and Janet Lee, with Nick on keyboard. November 14, 2008: The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre presents an adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, featuring the music of Nick Choo. The production is a play with songs featuring original music set to traditional Christmas lyrics, and new arrangements of classics such as Silent Night and Angels from the Realm of Glory. September 2008 Nick's musicalised versions of Shakespeare's sonnets feature in Love and Beauty: The Sonnets of William Shakespeare, presented by the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre's Theatre for Young People (T4YP) troupe under the direction of Christopher Ling. June 4, 2008: Listen qualified for the semi-final round in the Sounds of the Human World International Buddhist Songwriting Competition, with a live performance at DongZhen Temple in Selangor, Malaysia. May 18, 2008: Nick's song Listen, an original composition based on a Buddhist text, won first place in Singapore's Sounds of the Human World International Buddhist Songwriting Competition preliminary round. |
