Nick Choo is a songwriter/ composer, pianist, actor, writer and cartoonist currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He graduated with a Masters of Arts in Journalism, Public Relations and Creative Industries in 2006 from Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia, where he performed in and wrote original music for various theatrical productions, TV projects and short films.
His original music and arrangements featured in A Christmas Carol at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre, Malaysia, in December 2008 earned him a BOH Cameronian Arts Award nomination for Best Music. Among his other musical theatre accomplishments are The Edge, which ran for a series of workshop performances at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre in July 2008; and Follow The Light (November 2006), a winner in the Best Musical category in Western Australia's Finley Awards for Independent Theatre 2005, as well as the recipient of an Adjudicators' Special Certificate for Overall Achievement (Music & Construction).
Nick is also a published author and journalist who has worked in Malaysia's The Sun newspaper as a copy editor, writer, book reviewer and cartoonist, and was also writer and copy editor for Malaysian arts/culture magazine Off The Edge from 2006 to 2008. He continues his work as a journalist with online news analyses and commentary site The Nut Graph, while developing numerous musical and theatrical projects.
